The Benefits of Dental Implants

If your current set of dentures are constantly shifting out of position and you’re having a tough time eating the meals that you once enjoyed, you may be thinking that you’re out of luck. Fortunately, you’re not. Denture over implants may be the solution that you’ve been searching for!

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants use super-strong titanium posts to anchor your replacement dentures. You can think of these titanium posts as a sort of root, one that is much stronger and more durable than the natural root in your teeth.
That titanium post is surgically implanted into the jawbone and below the gum line. This allows the denturist to mount the replacement teeth, replacing damaged, broken and missing teeth and restoring that bright white smile.

The Advantages of Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants allow for your dentures to clip in through use of a pin or clip attached to the jaw bone.  Find out more about how we can help.

Dental implants have many important advantages, starting with their stability. At times, dentures can slip and slide around in your mouth, denture over implants are firmly anchored in place by the titanium posts that have been implanted into your jaw bone. As long as your jawbone stays put, so does the dental implant.

Comfort is another big benefit of dental implants. As your mouth changes over time, dentures can slip, creating pressure points, sores, and other problems. Since dental implants are anchored in place, they do not shift and move around, resulting in a far more comfortable wearing experience. During the first few months, your dentist or denturist will inspect the implants to ensure that they are securely attached and have a proper fit.

In addition to comfort, you’ll start to notice that is also easier to talk, laugh and eat with dental implants than with traditional dentures. Since denture over implants are fastened to your jaw by the titanium anchors, you’ll be able to enjoy most of your favorite meals again. If you get denture over implants on the upper half of your jaw, your dentures will be made smaller since you will be relying on the implants to hold your dentures in place opposed to the suction created by the full denture and your palate.

Ask Your Denturist

As you can see, dental implants have many important advantages over traditional dentures. There are plenty of reasons to ask your denturist about dental implants. Dental implant technology continues to improve, and that has made denture over implants more affordable than ever before. If you think you may need dentures, you owe it to yourself to ask your dentist about denture implants.

I appreciate you telling us that dental implants make it easier to do activities with your mouth like talking and eating. My husband had a few of his teeth knocked out when he slipped down the stairs, and we are wondering what the best choice for replacement is. We will definitely have to use dental implants since one of his favorite activities is eating.
