Care for Dentures
*Remove and Rinse After Eating.
*Use your denture brush (not on natural teeth) and a drop of liquid dish soap to gently clean daily.
*When not in mouth, store in your case to prevent accidents.
*Rinse before inserting in mouth and avoid very hot water.
*Handle with care, easily dropped dentures over a sink can cause a break.
*Daily care of natural teeth and gums and regular check-ups with a dentist are important.
*Expect some discomfort while in the adjustment period of a new Denture. This should improve over time as your mouth adjusts. If you find you have a sore spot, please contact our office for an adjustment.
*Practice speaking and eating: Start with soft foods and gradually increase to solids after you feel comfortable. Speech might be affected and might need practice pronouncing certain words. If time does not resolve this please call us.
*Remove at night or take out daily for a few hours to allow your gum tissues to rest.
*Over time, dentures will need to be relined or remade. Dentures become loose because the mouth changes. Loose dentures can cause health issues, including sores and infections. It is important to address poorly fitting dentures before they pose a problem.
*Denture adhesive can provide additional retention for dentures. It is not a solution for old or ill-fitting dentures. **all adhesive must be removed from dentures prior to a reline.
By following these aftercare instructions, you can ensure that your dentures remain in good condition and that your mouth stays healthy. If you experience any issues, such as soreness or a loose fit, or any changes to your mouth please call us.
